Tips for Web Design

Web Design History The first website was launched in 1995 and it is called the World Wide Web or WWW. The reason for its creation was to facilitate the accessibility of files and information throughout the world. Since that time the World Wide Web has evolved into what it is today. A few years ago you could surf the Internet without having a website. Today, you need a website to access any of the information you may want to obtain. In fact there are millions of people all over the world who do not have websites.

A web design has many tasks and it is an important part of a web page. It usually involves graphic design, navigation design, typography, images and other tasks. All these tasks must be properly coordinated to make a web page very user friendly and easy to navigate.

A web designer usually uses a set of tools and techniques to create the layout of a web page. The layout is what makes it navigable. There are many different things you can do with the layout of your web page. You can add a menu bar, a search box, or a combination of all these things. This is called navigation and this is one of the most important aspects of web designing. Without good navigation in a web page will fail the first time anyone tries to look at it.

When you are designing a web page, make sure it is not too big or too small. As a general rule of thumb a web page should not be more than 500 pixels wide or higher. You should also keep it below a thousand pixels in height. If you choose to use flash on your web page you must make sure it is downloaded in the proper format. The proper format is specified in the “resource” section of your web page.

In addition to web design you need to consider the interaction of your web page with other website components. For instance, you should include a JavaScript file for a shopping cart so that the user can place their order without entering that information again. This can save a lot of time for the customer. Many times a customer will enter their information one time and then submit it again later. Using a JavaScript for a shopping cart, is an easy way to accomplish this.

When the visitor clicks on one of the links in your web page they should be directed to another location on the Internet. If your site contains a search bar, the link should take them to that location. Likewise, if your site contains a photo gallery, every photo on the gallery should link to that location. In addition, if you have audio playing on your site, that audio should play on another media player. Linking your pages in this manner is called navigation.

Your web design should be fluid and allow the visitor to jump from one page to another. If you have several different styles of buttons or input boxes on your page you should use a consistent format on each page. The same goes for any images that you may use. If the background color, font style and size of an image changes on each page then the image will be unappealing to the viewer.

Make your about page the center of attention. Include keywords in your title and tag lines to help people find you easily. People are more likely to open your web design when the first thing they see is the about page. Therefore, make it your top priority to get your web design in order.
